Marvel Studios continues to excel at bringing their characters to the big screen and giving lesser known heroes a taste of A-list stardom. With Guardians of the Galaxy and Edgar Wright’s more Marvel Cinematic Universe scripted Ant-Man coming out in 2014 and 2015 respectively, I’m not surprised Doctor Strange isn’t green lit yet. As Marvel continues to move forward we already know that Falcon, Agent Carter, Winter Solider, the villain Crossbones will appear in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch will be in Avengers 2 sorry Avengers: Age of Ultron. So on today’s Top 5 we’ll get a look at Marvel characters that should be considered for future Marvel films or for the SHIELD TV series.
5. The Falcon/Sam Wilson
Now the Falcon, being played by Anthony Mackie will be seen in next years Captain America sequel. Now why stop at just one movie with the Falcon? How about adding him to the roster of The Avengers? Sam Wilson is an Avenger. He even was in the same roster as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch!
So it really wouldn’t be a stretch to see him on the same team with super powered heroes. Also it wouldn’t hurt having Mackie pop up on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Plus an added bonus: Mackie and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye can work together, like they did in the movie The Hurt Locker.
4. Quasar A.K.A Martyr, Phyla-Vell
Phyla-Vell AKA Quasar AKA Martyr (whatever name she’s going by), Phyla-Vell is one of the Guardians of the Galaxy’s most powerful badass woman, who so happens wields a broadsword too. I was disappointed that the powers that be at Marvel Studios didn’t include her in the final lineup for the upcoming movie. Now we all know Marvel Cinematic Universe needs more ass kicking women in future movies, so hopefully Marvel will smarten up and add her sooner than later.
3. Expanding The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
S.H.I.E.L.D. has tons of agents, but when I think about the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s not the upcoming TV show that’s premiering in a couple of weeks that I think about, it’s the comic books and cartoons I’ve watched over the years. When I think of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents its Dum Dum Dugan, Gabe Jones, Clay Quartermain (Agent 9); Jasper Sitwell (Agent 12); and Peggy Carter’s niece Sharon Carter (Agent 13), Jimmy Woo and my personal favorite Bobby Morse Mockingbird.
Now both Dum Dum Dugan and Gabe Jones could be dead and having them still alive & kicking and working as agents of S.H.I.E.L.D would work, but some subtle hints would be appreciated. Though there is another S.H.I.E.L.D related group that can be introduced in the MCU…
2. Introducing S.W.O.R.D.
S.W.O.R.D. the Sentient World Observation and Response Department, is a counter intelligence and terrorism organization. It’s in the same vein as S.H.I.E.L.D., except S.W.O.R.D. deals with extraterrestrials and any incoming threats from space. Lead by Agent Abigail Brand this group is the first line of defence for earth. So why not add this group to the MCU?
Now so far after what happened in Thor, Avengers and what may happen in Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy, I think S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to need all the extra help it they can get. Also, in a Thor alternate ending, Dr. Erik Selvig is shown using S.H.I.E.L.D. and S.W.O.R.D. data for the Tesseract, so it shows that at some point S.W.O.R.D. was going to be introduced in some form or way.
Now this goes back to what I’ve said previously, by wanting to see more female lead heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Abigail Brand is one strong, young, with a chip on her shoulder and always has your back kind of leader, and as the Head of S.W.O.R.D. she is the ultimate perfecta for a MCU movie. Plus in a S.W.O.R.D. movie it’ll be easier to introduce one of my favorite Marvel heroes…
1. Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel)
Now Carol Danvers is not only a member of the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., but she’s also a member of S.W.O.R.D. too. So it would probably be easier for Marvel to introduce Carol as an agent of S.W.O.R.D. and in the same movie we can be introduced to the aliens known as the Kree.
